The Kansas City Police Department discovered a fatal shooting on Friday night in the South Indian Mound neighborhood. According to police spokeswoman Officer Alayna Gonzalez, officers responded around 7 p.m. to reports of a shooting at the intersection of St. John and White Avenues. There, people flagged down the officers and led them to a residence on White Avenue, where a man was found deceased from a gunshot wound.- A man was shot on Friday night in Kansas City, Missouri. Police and bystanders provided medical aid until emergency responders arrived and took the man to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, a police spokesperson said.
- As of Friday night, police did not know the circumstances surrounding the shooting or have a suspect identified.
- According to investigators' initial information, the shooting does not appear to be a random attack. Detectives remained at the scene Friday night searching for witnesses, surveillance footage, and other evidence.
- This homicide marks the 178th in Kansas City so far in 2023, according to data maintained by the local newspaper. The city is on track to meet or exceed its record for the most homicides in a year, which was 182 in 2020.
