A dead heat is intensifying for Kamala Harris. The tightening polls reflect this trend, but a deeper analysis is necessary to fully grasp the situation. Last week, Harris visited the southern border, delivered an economic speech, and participated in another interview. These actions, despite her campaign's focus on ambiguity, reveal significant insights into her strategy.
Recent polls suggest a slight tightening of the race. In a two-way race, RealClearPolitics' average national polling on September 29 shows Harris leading Trump by 49.1 percent to 47.1 percent. This 2-point margin represents a slight decrease from Harris' 2.2-point lead the previous week. In comparison to the same point in the last two presidential races, Harris significantly lags behind Biden's 2020 margin (6.1 points) and Clinton's 2016 margin (3 points).
